Today I realized that the version of Monkey Universe hit revision 1000

This means, the universe we know had been changed, tweaked, rebuild, error corrected and improoved a thousand times and that's only since we introduced SVN to make our life easier. We didn't count the endless improovements before so since 11.Aug.2008 we managed to:

change files 14971 times!

It makes around 788 changes a month, 197 a week and nearly 26 a day!

For me it sounds not only impressive but it shows me that there were endless hours spent by the team to ensure our community gets the best it can get and considering that all of us in MUMT are self taught I wonder how we ever managed to get to sleep Smile

That's awesome and I'd like to thank our team for sacrificing such a big portion of their life.

Also thx all for staying with us so we had an audience to present our work to.

Finally I wish all of us lots of fun on the server and may the Monkey God watch over us Smile

NEW AUTO UPDATER RELEASE !!!

After testing the new auto updater thoroughly for a couple of days we can safely say that it works and hopefully eliminates the last cause of the crashes.

Unfortunately every improovement comes at a price and this will be a long first run of the updater as it has to replace corrupted files we deem responsible for the trouble.

The new release is an installer taking care of everything you need to update all files you need to carry your Monkey Universe experience into 2010. We even took care of the different versions and offer now not only standard and widescreen resolutions without having to alter files manually. We have also added a High Definition version for faster machines where you can experience a more shiny and colourful side of Freelancer effects. As you may have noticed, many explosions, gun effects, ship explosions and missile trails have been altered meanwhile to enhance your experience. With the HD version you can unfold the shiny side of those custom created effects and let your modern hardware work on making Monkey Universe more spectacular for you.

The old updater will cease to work tomorrow to allow for a smooth transition.

Monkey Universe Story

A small grain of sand in the vast universe
...nothing special, just a cluster of stars and some nebulae
...just one out of millions of similar places...
But it was chosen by the Monkey god!
A new home for mankind.
The first Nomad war is over and people in the colonies have forgotten about the Nomad threat.
The governments of the four houses have gone back to their business and rebuilt what was destroyed.
A time of peace and economic growth has endured.
But Sirius is in danger!
The Nomads are not dead, but are now even more powerful than before.
Pilots
are disappearing, stations are attacked, single ships of unknown origin
and material are again spotted all over the colonies!
Once again Mankind is at war!
The Nomads are back, stronger and more dangerous than before.
They control several systems and operate all over the colonies.
This time however, mankind has an ally.
The Monkeys from Planet Primus share our aim to destroy the Nomads!
They
have the blessings of the Monkey God and superior knowledge and
technology. But the Nomads are strong and victory is still far away.

Monkey Universe 2.42 - A Troubled Era
With the nomads gaining strength everyday, the Robots, Monkeys,
Order and House governments were finding themselves under increasing
pressure to hold them back. The Nomads have already gained foot holds
in other systems. They have also learnt new tactics and fighting skills
from analysing those of their foes. Now with these new skills they have
become a force to be reckoned with.
